While radon is one of the leading causes of lung cancer, it is also a clinically approved treatment modality for a number of chronic degenerative, autoimmune diseases such as arthritis. Treatment is carried out in “radon spas” such as in Bad Gastein, Austria and Bad Steben, Germany. Clinical investigations demonstrate that the benefits of the treatment outweigh the risks.

In the framework of RadoNorm’s WP7 on Education & Training activities, a new course titled “Radon therapy: theory and practice, benefits and health risks” is being organised by Stockholm University, Center for Energy Research, the University of Erlangen and Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) to explore the relationship between radon as a health risk and radon as a benefit when it is used as medication. The course will take place on 7th to 11th April 2025 at LMU, Munich, Germany, and feature a travel to one of the oldest and most famous radon spas in Europe, along with travel to the University of Erlangen, Germany. More information on the course and programme can be found here.

To apply for the course, please send a cover letter, CV and supporting letter from your supervisor to Andrzej Wojcik (andrzej.wojcik@su.se).

The course is limited to 14 participants and deadline for applications is 14th February 2025.
