French Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection

The French Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (ASNR) is an independent administrative authority (AAI). ASNR was created on 1 January 2025 under Act no. 2024-450 of 21 May 2024 on the organisation of the governance of nuclear safety and radiation protection, to meet the challenge of revitalising the nuclear industry.

On behalf of the French government, ASNR is responsible for monitoring civil nuclear activities and radiation protection, as well as providing expertise, research, training and public information in the fields of nuclear safety and radiation protection.
