Sylvain Andresz from the Nuclear Protection Evaluation Center (CEPN), presented the development and the results of the French citizen science pilot project at the 2023 edition of the national congress of the French Society for Radiation Protection (SFRP) which took place from 13-15 June 2023 in Dijon, France.

The pilot project took place in summer 2022 and involved around 10 participants – experts and citizen – in a ‘participatory science’ approach to analyse and suggest evolution of an existing on-line interactive tool design to self-evaluate a building for radon risk and support radon management works. Besides the technical results, the pilot project also generated positive outcomes for both the citizens and the experts and allowed to draw practical and methodological lessons learned useful for the design and the development of future citizen science projects on radon management.
