The 6th International Symposium on the System of Radiological Protection, organised by the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP), will take place in Vancouver, Canada from 7th to 10th November 2022. This is an event to disseminate knowledge on Radiation Protection, with the opportunity to get in touch with what is the current status on radon and NORM throughout the world, to be informed about the updates and new discoveries of the experts and to network with experts in the field of radiation protection. Ä. Degenhardt will present her work conducted in subtask 3.3.1 of RadoNorm in the form of an ePoster titled “A comprehensive biokinetic model for the dose to embryo and fetus due to radon intakes by the mother – Part I: the state of the art”. The state of the art of biokinetic models on radon and embryo/fetus based on a literature review on animal and human studies on radon, radon progeny and analogue radionuclides will be shown.

The ICRP has great interest in the effects of ionising radiation exposure in pre- and post‑conception phases of embryonic and fetal development. A specific ICRP Task Group has been set-up to deal with this topic.
