The Leiden University Medical Center

The Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) that comprises the Leiden University Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine of Leiden University employs approximately 8400 people. The interaction of fundamental research and patient care forms the basis of their management policy. The Human Genetics department is a broadly oriented research department, with focus on the (epi)genomic contribution to inherited and acquired diseases. One of the research lines “Genome instability and Cancer” aims to obtain mechanistic understanding of genome surveillance mechanisms and to exploit the obtained knowledge to improve personalized cancer therapy.
