ISS (Italian National Institute of Health) is the main center for research, control and technical-scientific advice on public health in Italy.

It is the technical and scientific body of the Italian National Health Service.

ISS promotes and protects the national public health through research, surveillance, regulation, control, prevention, communication, counselling and training.

The ISS activities include (among many other ones): prevention of risks deriving from exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and development of methods in computational physics, carried out by the ISS “National Center for Radiation Protection and Computational Physics”.
